Geology Park Opens at the Botanical Garden ****************************************************************************************** * Geology Park Opens at the Botanical Garden ****************************************************************************************** On June 22, 2010, at 4pm, a new permanent exhibition called “Geology of the Bohemian Massi in the Botanical Garden of the Charles University Faculty of Science, situated on the Na S Prague 2. Geology park was launched in a ceremony by Dean of the Faculty, professor Bohusl Using the examples of 32 different kinds of rock, the exhibition presents the geodynamic p that took part in the formation of development of the unique bedrock of the Czech Republic six sections to it, each of them dedicated to the country's respective geological units. E demonstrates a geological process, such as sedimentation, melting or metamorphism. The samples show the rich geological history of over 600 million years. Among the types of are those originating by intrusion of tectonic plates (granulite), collision of continents collapse of mountain areas (agglomerates), sedimentation in seas and lakes (sandstone and results of prehistoric volcanic activity (basalt), rocks originating both in great depths and on the Earth's surface (sandstones). Both well known rocks such as granite and lesser interesting ones like durbachites and eclogites are included.
