Marie Kalbáčová received the For Women in Science scholarship

            On May 13, RNDr. Marie Kalbáčová, Ph.D. from the Institute of Inherited Metabolic Disorder

            Charles University 1st Faculty of Medicine, received the L'Oréal For Women in Science scho
            her work “Interaction of Cells and Nanomaterials: New Perspectives of Implantology and Bio
            Ms. Kalbáčová studies the interaction among human cells and various nanomaterials. She foc

            osteoblasts and primary stem cells, which she grows on materials such as carbon nanotubes,
            diamond and others. She examines the rate of their biocompatibility and their osteoinducti
            bone growth) and osteoconductive (supporting later bone growth) potentials, which might en

            easier integration of the implant into the bone tissue.
