Charles University students take bronze in First International Academic Fire Fightin

            On May 4, 2011, Ostrava hosted the First International Academic Fire Fighting Games. Organ
            Technical University of Ostrava in cooperation with the Association of Firefighters of Boh

            Silesia under the auspices of the deputy mayor of Ostrava, the contest took place on the p
            Fire Rescue Service of the Moravian-Silesian Region in Ostrava-Poruba.
            Participants competed in eight events. Individuals, both men and women, competed in the 10

            and only men took part in the 4-floor tower climb with a hook ladder. Team events included
            hurdles relays (men’s, women’s, and co-ed with at least one woman) and fire attack (men an

            students from 13 universities took place in the first academic championship. Students who 
            six places scored points for the competition of universities.

            Students from Charles University represented the following faculties: the Faculty of Physi
            and Sport – Petr Hraško, Kristina Juretzková, Miroslava Mikulová, Ladislav Roučka, Klára Š
            Barbora Šubrtová, Alena Tesařová, Radek Vitovský, Šárka Vlachová; the Faculty of Mathemati

            Martin Kozák, Radim Navrátil; the Faculty of Science – Jan Bartoš, Vojtěch Svárovský; the 
            Medicine – Lucie Dostálová; and the Law Faculty – Andrea Červenková.
            In the competition of universities our students placed third with 28 points, behind the go

            which scored 51 points, and a mere 3 points behind the University of Ostrava which came se
            points. In individual events, the women’s relay team scored the first precious points havi
