President of the Czech Republic Appointed New Professors

            Based on proposals by the academic and artistic committees submitted by Czech institutions

            education, the President of the Czech Republic, Mr. Václav Klaus, appointed new professors
            that took place at the reception halls of the Karolinum building on December 8, 2010, ten 
            professors from Charles University were appointed full professors. The act was preceded by

            meeting between Rector Václav Hampl and the future professors.
            Professorship can be granted to an assistant professor who manifests sufficient qualificat
            examining the qualifications, the five-member expert committee submits the proposal to the

            committee of the university. In artistic programmes, the committee can waive the the prosp
            professor’s university degree requirement.

            Following Charles University assistant professors were appointed:

            in the field of human and veterinary pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Faculty in Hradec Králov
            doc. MUDr. Sylvie Opatrná, Ph.D.
            in the field of internal medicine, Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen

            doc. PhDr. Hana Pátková, Ph.D.
            in the field of auxiliary sciences of history, Faculty of Arts
            doc. MUDr. Radek Pudil, Ph.D.

            in the field of internal medicine, Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové
            doc. MUDr. Stanislav Rejchrt, Ph.D.
            in the field of internal medicine, Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové

            doc. MUDr. Tomáš Seeman, CSc.

            The ceremony was preceded by a meeting between Rector Václav Hampl and the future professo
            reception halls of Karolinum. During the meeting, assistant professors introduced themselv
            and discussed the current issues in research and education.
