Six candidates hoping to be elected as Czech president accepted invitations sent by the Rector of Charles University, the Department of International Relations, the Institute of Political Studies (IPS), the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Prague Security Studies Institute to a debate on the 28th November 2012.

Antonín Dvořák’s Mass in D major was performed in Karolinum to celebrate the Student Day
Charles University organized a festive concert in the Great Aula of Karolinum on 15th November at the occassion of the International Student Day and the Day of Fight for the Freedom and Democracy. The rector of Charles University Václav Hampl and a postdoctoral student Alla Tymofeyeva spoke prior to the resounding of Dvořák’s Mass in D Major and other small compositions.

Extraordinary Discovery by Czech Egyptologists from the time of the pyramid builders
Czech Egyptologists from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague discovered a burial complex of high officers of the Egyptian Old Kingdom, including the court of an Egyptian Princess dating back to approximately 2500 BC. “This extraordinary discovery opens a new chapter in the history of the burial site in Abusir,” commented Prof. Miroslav Bárta, the head of the archaeological expedition in Abusir, about the success of the Czech team.
