Geology Park Opens at the Botanical Garden
On June 22, 2010, at 4pm, a new permanent exhibition called “Geology of the Bohemian Massif” was opened in the Botanical Garden of the Charles University Faculty of Science, situated on the Na Slupi street in Prague 2. Geology park was launched in a ceremony by Dean of the Faculty, professor Bohuslav Gaš.

Mathematician Endre Szemerédi receives doctorate honoris causa
On June 15, 2010, professor Endre Szemerédi received doctorate honoris causa of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Based on a decision of the science committee, the doctorate was presented by Charles University's promotor, professor Jaroslav Nešetřil.

Teaching Czech through Theatre
Foreign students taking part in the theatre class at the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies's (ILPS) Albertov centre, gathered on June 5, 2010 to share the results of their semester-long efforts. Students from Japan, Russia, Germany, the United States and Belarus chose to learn Czech in a special course, in which the language is not being taught in classrooms the regular way, but instead uses theatre. The performance had been rehearsed under the guidance of the institute's instructor, Ms. Marie Kestřánková.

Faculty of Arts Receives Scholarships for Top British Universities
On June 1, 2010, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Michal Stehlík, and the Vice-Dean for International Affairs, Dr. Lenka Šulová, for the fourth time received scholarships for young scholars from the representative of the Anglo-Czech Educational Fund. These are designed to cover stays of young scholars at prestigious British universities. Out of six applicants, three received the grant for the academic year of 2010/2011.

Third Annual Prague´s Play With Science Fair Proves Science Not Only for Boys
On May 31, 2010, the New Town Town Hall hosted the 3rd annual Play With Science event, whose morning programme was designed by the Charles University Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, along with Young Débrouillards of the Czech Republic, an association promoting scientific curiosity in children. The afternoon was reserved for adults, with experts from the faculty and the Academy of Sciences giving public lectures.
