Prezident udělil státní vyznamenání. Dvě patří vědcům z Univerzity Karlovy
On the anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia, October 28, 2010, President of the Czech Republic, Professor Václav Klaus, awarded 22 distinguished personalities with state awards. Among the recipients of the Medal of Merit were Professor Jaroslav Nešetřil from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and Professor Milan Šamánek from the 2nd Faculty of Medicine.

The president awarded the Medal of Merit, 1st Degree to Professor MUDr. Milan Šamánek, DrSc., for contributions to the country in the field of science. Professor Šamánek is an outstanding Czech expert on child cardiology and cardiac surgery. Since the 1950’s, he has focused on innate heart diseases in children. He founded and was a long-time director of the Child Cardiology Centre at the Motol University Hospital. He has educated several generations of pediatricians at the Faculty of Pediatrics (later 2nd Faculty of Medicine) and published hundreds of papers in the field. He is a member of national and international academic associations and has been awarded numerous awards in science. |
