Charles University to hand out Bolzano Awards
On Thursday January 28, 2010 at 1pm in the Great Hall of Karolinum (Ovocný trh 3, Praha 1), the rector of Charles University Mr. Václav Hampl will hand out Bolzano awards, granted annually to students for excellent research work.
“For me, the Bolzano Awards ceremony has always been an important event. It is an appreciation of students who are diligent, hard-working and passionate about their topic, on which they have worked for a long time, and who succeeded in creating an original, inspiring and significant research work”, said Mr. Hampl in regards to the Bolzano Awards.
It will be the sixteenth time Charles University has given the prestigious awards to its selected students for highly original works with excellent creative content and interdisciplinary dimension, written during their studies at the university. This year, six awards will be handed out in three categories: social sciences and humanities including theology, science, and medicine.
The Bolzano Awards are designed to support research training of young researchers at the university. Students themselves enter their works into the competition, which are then judged by a committee appointed by the rector of Charles University. In the past fifteen years, 175 Bolzano Awards have been handed out. The recipient of the award receives a diploma and prize money.
