Sdělení ohledně povodňové situace

Since the early hours of Sunday 2 June, the university bursar and other authorised members of university management, as well as the head of the security department of the CU Rectorate, have been monitoring the status of individual premises of Charles University potentially threatened by the flood situation and are in contact with both the emergency committee of the City of Prague and the deans of the relevant faculties (Science, Pedagogy, Social Sciences, Theological, Arts, Law, Mathematics/Physics, Physical Education) and the directors of other sections (Residences and Catering, Buildings Administration).

Clearing work and other preventive measures were carried out in all threatened premises with the aim of minimising any potential damage. According to the latest information received from faculty committees there has been partial flooding of the boatyard in Trója and the training centre in Dobronice.

Any restrictions in the operations of individual faculties and parts thereof (including state exams, entrance exams, conferences etc.) are within the authority of the individual deans and relevant up-to-date information is available on the websites of those faculties. In view of the worsening prognoses for further developments in the centre of Prague, including transport and power supplies, I would ask that deans consider the restriction of faculty operations on Monday 3 June, if they have not done so already.

Further information, including any university-wide measures in place, shall be published in the afternoon of 3 June, following the assessment of overnight developments and new information received from the emergency committee of the City of Prague.

The management of CU would also like to thank all university employees and students for their dedication and assistance with anti-flood measures.

Prague, 2 June 2013

Prof. Václav Hampl, Rector of Charles University
