Prague, May 31, 2011 – This afternoon saw the official opening of a public exhibition titled THE URBANISTIC VISION OF CHARLES UNIVERSITY 2030 featuring projects by architecture students presenting their vision of the future development of Charles University and Prague.

Charles University invites the public to a display of semester-long projects by architecture students from the studios of top Czech technical universities. In their designs, the students are looking for answers to the questions: How and where do architecture students see the finest Czech university in twenty years’ time? By that time, will we manage to accumulate all Charles University buildings in the centre of Prague where they historically belong? Should Charles University by located on several mini-campuses or be concentrated on a single campus?

The exhibition was opened by Prof. RNDr. Milan Tichý, Dr.Sc., Charles University Prorector for Investment and Construction.

“Charles University now looks at itself. I believe the future development of this university, not only the oldest and largest, but also the most important one in the Czech Republic both in academic and international terms, is a topic for the whole society,” Charles University Rector, Prof. RNDr. Václav Hampl, DrSc., said.

Come and see the ideas of architecture students as expressed in their projects. The students focused not only on Prague’s neighbourhoods and districts (Pelc Tyrolka, Motol, Jinonice Albertov, Dubeč, Strahov) but also the city centre itself.
