Prezident republiky jmenoval nové profesory

Based on proposals by the academic and artistic committees submitted by Czech institutions of higher education, the President of the Czech Republic, Mr. Václav Klaus, appointed new professors. At the ceremony that took place at the reception halls of the Karolinum building on December 8, 2010, ten assistant professors from Charles University were appointed full professors. The act was preceded by an informal meeting between Rector Václav Hampl and the future professors.

Professorship can be granted to an assistant professor who manifests sufficient qualification. After examining the qualifications, the five-member expert committee submits the proposal to the academic committee of the university. In artistic programmes, the committee can waive the the prospective professor’s university degree requirement.

The ceremony was preceded by a meeting between Rector Václav Hampl and the future professors at the reception halls of Karolinum. During the meeting, assistant professors introduced themselves and their work and discussed the current issues in research and education.
